Maricruz is the testimony of the word “Compassion”. She freely gives love and understanding to those hurting and in need. 

It was at the peak of the Covid where so many people were working endless hours to help take care of patients. This was my first time meeting Maricruz and she made such an impact on me because of the devotion and compassion she has towards the patients. This night was an extra shift that Maricruz picked up to help her team out and it was also her birthday. We both were responsible for taking care of this gentleman. Throughout the night, his health deteriorated quickly. Maricruz was quick in making sure this gentleman was well taken care of. She called me (Respiratory Therapist), called the doctor to get orders in, and called his family to give them an update on him. The family was not allowed to visit at that time due to Covid. Maricruz FaceTimed with all of his family members so that each one of them can say their goodbyes to him. Maricruz gave this patient all her attention. She spent her time listening to him, hearing his stories, holding his hands, and reassuring him that he was not alone. Throughout this shift, she made sure this gentleman was as comfortable as can be and that family can spend the last remaining hours with him (even though it was only through FaceTime).
