My husband was feeling very nervous and not knowing what to expect this morning. We were greeted by an amazing nurse, an angel I would say. As she approached my husband and me, she explained how she would take good care of him and also would keep me well informed on his status. Her voice and actions comforted us both. She explained what she did and explained the procedure. This sweet nurse took time to talk with me, showed me where bathrooms are and where I could use my cell phone if needed. She took extra time to make sure I was comfortable and checked on me to keep me up to date while my husband was in surgery. I appreciated this very much!
Here, a nurse who shows she cares not only just about the patient but also his family members. I saw in this nurse that she cares and loves what she does and this is not just another job but this is her career. I observed compassion, caring, dedication, teamwork, and professionalism.
One more thing I would like to say about this nurse (angel) is that she not only talked to us, she also listened to what we had to say. I thank God for this nurse who has a beautiful, caring, genuine spirit. We need more nurses like Marilyn to put caring and love in action so patients are first in their care. It's easy to say we are here for you but it's much more than that and only a loving, devoted, nurse can truly feel this. Therefore, my husband and I think Marilyn is definitely an Extraordinary Nurse. I know this because I am a nurse for 37 years - DMH cath lab has an awesome nurse who not only puts patients first, she rocks!
