Marissa cared for a patient with a very tragic background, who arrived to the unit with her glasses broken. She was very withdrawn and depressed and had no visitors. Marissa cared for the patient for numerous consecutive nights and began to form a rapport with her, taking the time to learn about what the poor woman had been through prior to being admitted to the hospital. Unfortunately, the patient had recently lost her house and almost all of her belongings. The patient loved to read but was unable to do so with her glasses broken. Marissa bought the patient a new pair of glasses and some books to help pass the time for her lengthy hospital stay. Her incredible act of kindness and compassion was so touching to the patient, who was beyond grateful. This is one example of many how Marissa embodies the DAISY spirit and makes a difference in the lives of the patients she cares for. Thank you, Marissa, for all you do for our patients!
