Mariya provided compassionate care to my grandfather, as he battled COVID-19 and pneumonia. I am a nurse myself and felt so "stuck" not being able to be at the bedside and oversee his care, however, my grandfather raved about how Mariya picked up his room, changed sheets, pillows fluffed, encouraged ambulation and was his favorite nurse.
Mariya hasn't been hindered by this pandemic but rather is excelling at patient care and going the extra mile. For an 82-year-old grandfather who is independent, it was difficult for him to be physically weak and in such need. Mariya, you helped him recover, gave him confidence and inner strength to pursue the day-to-day challenges that promoted recovery. Your "simple" acts in the way you serve your patients don't go unnoticed or unappreciated.
