I was offering an informal tour of the college to a friend of mine and his daughter and Markela Albright went out of her way to demonstrate the nursing labs and discuss her enthusiasm for the nursing program. Kudos to Ms. Albright. Her kindness, joy and intelligence serve as an inspiration for us all.
Markela is a student lab worker and goes above and beyond all the time. She was asked by the program chair to organize the control room for Capstone and did a remarkable job. One day she begged the Basic Skills instructors to open the lab one day for her peers to practice. This would not benefit Markela at all, but since it would help her peers she was willing to come on their behalf. She continuously goes above and beyond trying to teach other students study techniques...so much so that another faculty wanted her to be a student mentor. Lastly, any task I give her in the lab, I never worry about because I know it will be completed and done correctly. Markela has proven to not only be a good student worker, but a selfless, dedicated and hardworking individual.
