When my husband returned to Dogwood for hospice, Martha gave me a big hug, expressed her sympathies, and said to let her know if there was any way she could help.
My husband has advanced early-onset Alzheimer’s. He was on Dogwood twice — once before he went to the Senior Behavioral Unit and then again in hospice after SBU. We were lucky enough to have Martha as his case manager during both stays. During her visits, she was well-informed, which meant we didn’t have to repeat the info I had already shared. She was fully understanding about my concerns about my husband going to SBU, where he would be alone for most of the day, and I couldn’t be there to advocate for him.
When my husband returned to Dogwood for hospice, she gave me a big hug, expressed her sympathies, and said to let her know if there was any way she could help. And I knew she was 100% sincere. I understand she is retiring soon. Those are some big shoes for someone to fill!
