Life has thrown me and my husband, truly hard times these last 8 years, give or take. Between cancer, stroke, heart attacks, and injuries from MVAs, we haven't had time to recover before another wave overtook us. Then my husband was admitted, via ED, and we got the devastating news that would require us to make end of life decisions. We were seriously struggling. Then Mary showed up. WOW! She's all that you want in your nurse, professional, knowledgeable, etc., but she is so beyond all of that. We were surprised at her ability to just push aside the scary stuff and bring compassion to a bad, big ugly monster with her great and irreverent sense of humor. She actually had us laughing in spite of the fear. She showed us that when life comes to rip part of your heart away when you are doubly weary and equally scared, the right person with the right insights can help lift your burdens with that beautiful touch of irreverent sense of humor. What a wonderful role model and example of offering care outside of that old brown boring box! Please keep and love her!
