Mary Beth Hoefle, RN, has been a part of the Imaging Department since 2009 when the first Care Closer to Home site opened in New Berlin. Providing sedation services at an off-site location was new territory for Mary Beth, but she was the perfect nurse to help provide the best and safest care in this setting. Mary Beth came into the role with many years of emergency department trauma center (EDTC) experience and continues to work there today in addition to working as a nurse in the Imaging Department.
Mary Beth has an extremely strong sense of purpose in the service to patients and families. She is known for her compassion for patients and families and makes them feel special by going above and beyond and treating with care. She is also diligent in the Magnetic Resonance Imaging environment to keep patients safe with sedation. One of her teammates said, "She has utilized resources outside of the clinic to make sure that a patient is getting the best and safest care."
Mary Beth is an expert collaborator. She works extremely well with team members of all disciplines in the Imaging Department and in other departments and clinics, and is known for her ability to remain calm in any situation. Her teammate said, "She plans and thinks situations through so she can be a guide to other staff."
Mary Beth demonstrates shared leadership each day at the New Berlin Clinic. She is extremely autonomous and driven. She has recently taken on the task of coordinating orientation periods for multiple nurses as we prepare to open the Mequon Care Closer to Home site.
Mary Beth's role in Imaging at the New Berlin Clinic and in the EDTC at the Milwaukee campus truly complement each other. Her teammate concluded her nomination with: "I feel Mary Beth is the type of nurse that truly represents all that is good about nursing at Children's Hospital."
