The following day I received a text showing several items that were brought to D from the Museum. I know that Mary Catherine was responsible for this.
We brought 10 WWII veterans to New Orleans to visit the WWII Museum. The next day, our 96-year-old veteran from the suburbs of Philadelphia, D, took a fall, broke his hip, and incurred a terrible gash to the back of his head. He was transported to the ER at Ochsner where he received top-notch care.
The following day D had hip replacement surgery and subsequently was transferred to ICU. I was his companion on this trip. I came to the ICU the morning prior to our departure later that day and that's when I met the nurse, Mary Catherine. Unfortunately, I couldn't speak with D, as he was sleeping. This afforded me time to speak with Mary Catherine. We talked about how excited these veterans were about their opportunity to come to New Orleans and visit the WWII Museum. I mentioned to Mary Catherine while D was in the ER how disappointed he was that he couldn't visit the Museum. As our conversation proceeded and I observed the care that she was providing to D, I was extremely impressed by Mary Catherine’s professionalism and heartfelt caring that she provided Dave. As I was leaving the ICU, I was relieved in knowing that he would be in good hands.

When I spoke with D, he expressed how appreciative he was for these gifts. I wanted you to know how Mary Catherine went above and beyond to help her patient. She is a valuable person in your organization. I want to thank Mary Catherine and your team for all they have done for D. Heartfelt Thanks.
