Diane reminds these new nurses of the importance of having integrity, providing compassionate care, and always maintaining professionalism, as this aligns with the nursing values that are part of the Kaiser Permanente Nursing Professional Practice Model.
Diane encompasses and represents the absolute best qualities of what a “Nurse Educator” should possess. Diane has shown that she a true passion and commitment to learning and contributing to the professional development of New Graduate RNs and existing staff on each of the four units that she supports. She has been the lead for providing the education and training for the multiple New Grad cohorts that onboard three times a year at Los Angeles Medical Center (LAMC). With each cohort she fosters a positive and supportive learning environment that facilitates learning for all, even for those who may struggle at times with being proficient in their new roles as nurses. She demonstrates a lot of compassion and is always willing to connect with the New Grad nurses after hours just to provide them with the opportunity to vent and supports them with the encouragement that their next shift will be better. Diane reminds these new nurses of the importance of having integrity, providing compassionate care, and always maintaining professionalism, as this aligns with the nursing values that are part of the Kaiser Permanente Nursing Professional Practice Model. After each cohort, Diane is always striving to improve and change her teaching techniques to be able to meet the learning needs of the nurses that she serves. She communicates and collaborates effectively with nursing leaders to help ensure that new hires successfully transition into their new roles. She also collaborates closely with the unit leaders to produce creative solutions to help bridge the learning gaps of our new graduate nurses. She is a great role model for professional development as she has her own certification in Nursing Professional Development and is always seeking opportunities to improve her knowledge in efforts to improve nursing practice and safe patient care. Diane is very innovative and collaborates with subject matter experts from various disciplines to help provide the most effective learning opportunities for staff. She is always willing to mentor nurses who may be seeking advice on how to advance their roles or pursue higher education or certifications.

She is well respected by staff and unit leaders and is always willing to lean in to support any emergent needs on her units. She has helped to successfully transition numerous New Graduate nurses into the various Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Units and Stepdown. She is a wonderful colleague and a great asset to the Professional Development and Education Team. She exemplifies all the nursing values (Professionalism, Integrity, Compassion, Teamwork, Patient-Family Centric, and Excellence).
