For her outstanding dedication, and her willingness to always go the extra mile, I nominate Mary Lou Lufty for the DAISY Award. My husband has had the pleasure of being cared for by Mary Lou, and I would describe her as having an exceptional, upbeat, positive attitude. No matter how the day begins, Mary Lou always makes chemo days a much easier experience because she cares so deeply about the her patients, and understands what is important to each of them.
Mary Lou is a true team player. She is always pleasant, and portrays a very understanding knowledge base, creating confidence and a sense of reassurance in the patients for whom she cares. She always has the right answers. No matter how busy she is or what time of day it is she always makes extra time to sit down and explain the detail of what is going to happen, preparing my husband and me for what to expect.
Mary Lou’s calmness and confidence are her best qualities. She is compassionate and her nursing skills are awesome. She is an exceptional nurse and her support has helped us through difficult days. The dedication and kindness she displays at every turn makes her a wonderful example of what it means to be a nurse.
