Mary Whalen is our facility wound care nurse. She is very experienced, caring and an Extraordinary Nurse. She is willing to take the time to assist staff in understanding the importance of wound prevention and care and always honors the veterans' wishes of management with their wounds. She ensures that the staff understands the importance of caring for the veterans' wounds through compassionate care. Mary's guidance of treatment for a resident who had a healed pressure ulcer and avoided the possible development of new ones is an example of her commitment to excellence. I can really say how important her dedication and commitment to our residents and staff has made us a truly cohesive team in the CLC. Mary truly loves her job AND demonstrates our ICARE values every day to her colleagues and our veterans.
