I'm writing to nominate Maryam Adewunmi for the DAISY Award. It gives me great pleasure to do so. I think Maryam is the ideal candidate for the DAISY Award for many reasons. Maryam is extremely dedicated to her success in the masters nursing program at UCI, not an easy program by any means. I was Maryam’s clinical nursing instructor during her obstetrical rotation and her preceptorship. Maryam possesses attributes that will support her in her nursing practice, such as accountability, respect, empathetic care for her patients and their families, strong communication skills, flexibility, responsibility, a willingness to learn, and a love for people and nursing. Maryam consistently influenced her academic group in a positive manner by demonstrating enthusiasm, team cooperation, compassion, and encouragement. She exhibits great initiative to capture learning opportunities, she is reliable, goal-oriented, focused, hardworking and always put her best foot forward into her academics. I have no doubt that she will become a highly skilled and competent registered nurse as she compassionately advocates and supports her patients. Maryam displays great nursing potential and will be an excellent addition to any healthcare team.
