I have been in the emergency room several times the past few years at this hospital. Matthew has been my nurse on several of these occasions. Every time, his professionalism and bedside manners have been outstanding. He knows how to listen and show empathy with his patients. He always treats me with kindness and compassion and knows how to keep my dignity. He knows I am a hard stick but always finds a vein and gets it quickly. He also knows how to comfort me an keep me distracted from my pain while he does what he needs to do. Even though it gets hectic in the ER, he is always very patient and thorough. He explains things very well and in a non-threatening way. Every time he cares for me, he exemplifies the same calm, professional, compassionate, caring nurse that he is with exceptional bedside manners. He is a great asset to the Lee’s Summit Medical nursing staff and should be considered for the DAISY Award.
