Mayda El Ramahi, RN

Mayda is an outstanding nurse. She provided clinically exceptional care, but that is not what made her stand out from the other fine nurses on 5C. She was so compassionate and went out of her way to make my mother-in-law comfortable. My mother-in-law was not actually Mayda's patient. She was assigned to someone else that day, but because that nurse was called to other duties, Mayda jumped in and took over. My Mother-in-law was very anxious about her procedure and had MANY, MANY questions. Mayda took the time to answer them all and also looked after her physical needs as well. She truly listened to her in a way that really stood out. She never came in without a warm blanket, water, a snack, or something to make my MIL's stay more pleasant. When she identified a small complication from the procedure, Mayda handled it swiftly, professionally but also compassionately by reassuring my mother-in-law that all was being handled.

My mother-in-law was thrilled with the care she received on 5C. She said if you could still write Letters to the Editor, she would write one about her wonderful care at St Vincent. But she wanted to be sure Mayda was recognized even above that, because she literally was in her room every 15 minutes to check on her, always with a smile and never seemed rushed, even though I know she had other patients that were her own. A wonderful example of teamwork, compassion, professionalism, and someone that lives out the Ascension St Vincent values and Mission. All our thanks and appreciation!
