I am alive today because that nurse who graduated in May did the thing that the little voice inside her head had been trained to do. McKenna will be an excellent nurse.
One day after my knee replacement my left foot was cold and turning blue. The nurses were checking and looking for a Doppler. When they found it and checked it was a very slight sound from the Doppler. They kept checking for quite some time. Finally, my "angel nurse" checked my toe and she couldn't pick up anything with Doppler. Someone kept saying it is only a few hours and the doctor would be in and he could look at it then. The "angel nurse" kept saying (to herself) that I needed a doctor now and she just felt she needed to call him ASAP. When he arrived and checked he said he needed to get surgery done and to get me in right away.
I don't remember seeing "my angel nurse" again. I am alive today because that nurse who graduated in May did the thing that the little voice inside her head had been trained to do. She will be an excellent nurse.
I am so grateful that she was on duty that night. I had the leg amputated after the surgery. I chose to have the amputation thanks to her. She will always hold a special place in my heart. She saved my life that night and I will be forever thankful for her dedication and pray she will continue nursing and listening to that small whisper that urges her to follow her instincts in life and death situations.
