On October 25, 2016, our hospital experienced a fire in a patient room. Although the patient room was in another unit, Dee Woosley saw smoke and responded immediately. Her call for help brought Jennifer Strode, Ryan Farthing, James Edmonds, Cairee Fannin, Latoshia Ferrell, & Michaela Gibbs to the scene, where they acted in textbook response to save the patient, put out the fire, minimize the damage, and rescue other patients and staff. As a result of their heroism and the immediate appropriate response, lives were saved. It's often said that most people run away from disaster, but heroes run toward it. These DAISY Nurses are truly heroes for their efforts on October 25, 2016.
