Meghann Kowalski, MSN, RN, PCCN
It is with great honor that I nominate Meghann Kowalski for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. In reading about the criteria for this award I can confidently say that Meghann is the perfect nominee. I have worked with many nurses throughout my 29 years of healthcare involvement and without hesitation Meghann is one of the very best if not the best that I have had the pleasure to work with and for. Meghann has impressed me with her knowledge, confidence, and her nursing skills from the start of my nursing clinicals on the PCU floor as well as through my nearly five years of employment with St Francis.
Meghann’s integrity and honesty not only make her a great nurse but an impeccable leader as well. Meghann is very reliable, dedicated, and focused. Her impeccable nursing judgment and her ability to manage her workload, her staff, and the patients of the fourth floor with quickness and precision make her an asset not only to the PCU floor but to St. Francis as well. Organized and always a willing participant, Meghann is always there to assist with patient care, cover short shifts, lead and inspire an entire nursing team and partake in multiple different committees that make CHI a success.
Meghann has created an environment of trust, compassion, and respect. She is always available and responsive to the needs of anyone and everyone. She models professional development and is always encouraging growth amongst her colleagues. She advocates for the success of the PCU staff and is always there to share her knowledge and skill allowing each of us continued growth and confidence.
Meghann is consistent and dedicated, she goes above and beyond to ensure patient, family, and staff satisfaction. Her calm and competent demeanor always puts others at ease, both patients and employees alike. Her humility inspires her team to work collectively and sets an example for person-centric care.
