I never worried when my mom was in Mindy's care.
During my mother's 12-day stay in the hospital fighting COVID, Mindy was my mom's nurse over several of those days. When I first met Mindy, the care and compassion not only for my Mom but for me just flowed from her! She took time even though she was the busy charge nurse to answer any and every question we had. I never doubt that my Mom was in good hands when Mindy was her nurse. Her communication, attention to detail, and just outright love for her patients and their families are amazing.
As is the nature of COVID, we had good days and bad, one particularly rough day, I was scared and tore up, Mindy just wrapped her arms around me and let me cry, when I looked up, she was crying too! Unfortunately, my mom's fight with this nasty virus was lost and I was so thankful to know that Mindy was there with her the whole time. I was especially appreciative that Mindy held the phone up so I could tell my mom, "I love you so much!" one more time and I got to see my Mom mouth those words "I love you too!" one last time despite her struggle and fight to breathe and live, and for that, I will be eternally grateful.
After my mom's passing on the 9th floor ICU, Mindy found out I was there and she came up to offer her condolences and you could tell it hit her hard too! I never worried when my mom was in Mindy's care. On Friday I got a phone call from the hospital and it was Mindy just calling to check on me and she sent me the most beautiful wind chime in remembrance of my mom! The world needs a million more just like her as nurses! I will never be able to thank her enough for all her love and compassion for my precious Mom, and even myself!
