I've had Professor Showalter as a professor for health assessment and fundamentals lab. She has always encouraged me to do the best that I can and tries to help in any way that she can. She has helped me through personal matters and given me tips on how to do the check-offs better.
***
Professor Showalter made sure to put time into every individual in my lab to ensure that they understood what was being taught. She was always caring and nice and made the lab a very delightful moment. She made nursing a fun and amazing thing to learn. She was always available when you needed help and found various ways to help you understand. When everything went online, my biggest admiration of Professor Showalter was that she dedicated herself to understanding and learning the new approaches of Zoom and online learning so she could be there to help us, students.
***
Professor Showalter has worked as an adjunct faculty for many years and the students love her. She really takes her time and gets to know every student and his/her story.
***
When speaking with other faculty and staff it is not uncommon to hear Melinda say, "I just want them to be good nurses."
