She is compassionate, relatable, wise, funny, calm, and protective of our unit. Melissa is the most genuine person and has been an absolute blessing to the ICU.
-Melissa has jumped in to support our charge nurse during 2 RRTs that were occurring by going to one of them to support our patients.
-Utilized as a resource during critical events with her heavy ER background. But also extremely interested and motivated to learn ICU.
-Melissa consistently demonstrates competence in daily operations while still exhibiting strategic thinking and thoughtful insight to the task/problem at hand
-When the charge nurse on staff had a medical emergency, Melissa rushed into work (as she was working from home) and sat with the nurse in the ER to ensure she was emotionally supported. She went beyond as a manager that day to comfort her staff member.
-There was a young and extremely critical patient in the ICU needing to be flown to a higher level of care, Melissa stayed well past her “clock out” time to ensure the staff had the resources they needed, and the patient got to where she needed to go
-Melissa encourages autonomy and trust within our ICU. When discussing overflow and low census planning, she is always considering our voice.

Below, you will find what our team loves to share about Melissa;
-Epitome of a true “servant leader”
-Has created a unified, strong unit dedicated to quality patient care and care and respect for one another.
-Very approachable, is a team player, is felt as our “leader” and not our “boss.”
-She is constantly visible. Melissa joins our team for rounds and is always a few steps away
-Jumps in to answer call lights, boost patients, and is willing to provide patient care.
-Understandable, compassionate

-She is always checking in with staff if they had a bad shift and is always recognizing the team.
-Amazing at giving constructive feedback and allowing the team to grow
-Understanding and accommodating to life events outside of work
-The most professional manager I have had that still connects to you on a human level
-Constantly promoting collaboration and teamwork in patient care by leading (ex, assisting nurses/techs with day-to-day tasks)
-Always rounding on the unit and offering support
-Someone you can reach out to without hesitation
-Goes out of her way to listen to concerns and genuinely cares about her staff and patients
-Such a friendly face to see on the unit! She is always there to lend a hand to patients, listens to the staff, and goes beyond for the unit in all she does. She gives everyone a voice!
-Good listener, non-judgmental, and views situations/issues/concerns from a wider perspective to be able to decide fairly.
