I must commend all the wonderful nurses in this unit. They are selfless, patient, and kind. I have never seen dedication like this in my vast experiences with hospitals. These nurses are energetic and tireless.
I must however single out Melissa. She came to me at a time I needed it the most. Melissa always patiently explained the medications and their purpose. When it came time to learn the straight cath procedure she patiently held my hand as I struggled through it. When that did not work and I had to get another Foley, she calmed me down and taught me how to clean and care for it numerous times. I kept thanking her for all the time she spent with me.
Melissa even accompanied my daughter to the car with a cart of flowers and my belongings. She is the epitome of above and beyond. Today as I prepare to leave, she personally assisted me with a much-needed shower and reviewed, patiently, dressing with a Foley.
Not only does Melissa have the sweet, kind patience one would want in a nurse, she also is well informed and an excellent teacher. I thank her for easing my fears and making my recovery more comfortable and less frightening.
