Both of my parents were admitted, I was able to make it to the hospital and see and speak to my mom, but when my father's status declined, there was no time for me to get there. Melissa was aware of our situation and immediately contacted me when things got bad. She FaceTimed me so I could see and speak to my father intubated. Little did I know, that would be the last time I got to hear my father's voice. My father's health declined. There are dozens of names and faces that my family encountered along our journey to help save my parents, who have touched our lives immensely and we will never be able to express our gratitude enough. But to be able to see my father's face, hear his voice and tell him how much I love him one last time was the one moment that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Melissa has a pure heart of gold and though she is still considered a new graduate nurse, she embodies what nursing truly is all about.
