Melissa York is less than a year into her nursing career, but she's already making a difference to her patients. One family even called her a gem when recognizing her.
York cared for this particular patient this summer. The family member describes her in the nomination as being one of the most professional, caring, sincere, and heart-felt nurses the family had ever met. "If I didn't know better, I would swear she had a set of wings. Every day when she attended to our dad, we were always greeted with a smile. She constantly checked with the family to see if anything was needed and if it was, she ensured the need was quickly met. This was a very trying time for our family, and I know that Melissa's compassion and assistance made a bad situation much more tolerable. As a family, we are very grateful for her presence and feel blessed to have had her as our father's nurse. I have no doubt that our dad felt the same way."
