There are people in this world who were meant to be nurses, and Michael is definitely one of them. We are very lucky to have him!
Michael was the nurse who took care of my father-in-law, J, when he came in for chest pain. J was very nervous and continually tried to tell us he was fine. Once he got to G1, Michael was in constant communication with me about what was happening and why. My mind switched from being a nurse to being a daughter and Michael never made me feel like I was bothering him throughout my endless questions. He was kind and funny and put my father-in-law at ease. He advocated for J to go down to Cath Lab quickly and let me know every time something was new or changing. J ended up with two stents and was able to discharge the following day. There are people in this world who were meant to be nurses, and Michael is definitely one of them. We are very lucky to have him!

Michael, when confronted with an EKG finding that didn't add up for a patient, immediately reached out to the rest of the care team. He wasted no time in ensuring the team, who wasn't otherwise aware of the findings, was updated in a conscientious and succinct way, even late at night. This kind of effort is critical to making sure we avoid mistakes that can cost our patients. Thank you!

CTS wanted to nominate Michael for an award. He was taking care of an open-heart patient that he had for a couple of days. On the day of discharge, Michael was concerned about the patient. She was not as active and mobile as she was the day before, and she was complaining of abdominal pain. A family member had mentioned to him that she has a history of a longer intestine than others. When CTS rounded that day, Michael pushed for a KUB and it showed ischemic bowel and patient was rushed to the OR.

Michael is a great nurse and had received a Great Catch Award for noticing ST elevation on the tele strip, and a code STEMI was called, resulting in the patient receiving a stent.
***
Michael is great with his patients and always puts patient safety first. He is a great patient advocate.
