At yesterday’s Nurses Awards reception Michele Lawson, RN, CEN ED received the DAISY Award for extraordinary nurses. It was a meaningful and joyful recognition event!
Much to Michele’s surprise, Kiersten Solis, RN, CEN ED educator, nominated Michele and read the heartfelt nomination:
“Michele’s standards exceed excellent. She can be in a zone, be a float nurse, triage nurse, charge nurse, secretary and tech and sometimes, all at the same time. Somehow, she manages to be the calming force in an otherwise chaotic ED. Michele can walk into any code and instantly the nurses feel relieved. Even a few doctors may breathe a sigh of relief when she enters the room because she can run any code with one arm tied behind her back. She is always the one to turn to for help. She can place an IV in a rock, set up the CVP monitor and fix almost anything.
Michele sets the bar high and never fails to reach her goals. She is an amazing teacher and role model to all staff. Michele gives excellent care to all her patients. I am forever grateful for all she has taught me about nursing. I attribute the nurse I am today to Michele Lawson. “
Congratulations Michele. You are truly extraordinary!
