As adoptive gay parents, we were not sure what to expect coming to a Catholic hospital, and knowing in advance that our son would need some extra TLC filled us with anxiety. While all of the nurses, residents, and of course, the doctor, provided compassionate care Michelle has been our guiding angel. She has a calmness and joy that emanates from her and a clarity and directness which allows us to be ourselves while being cared for. Her sense of humor is just wonderful and we were able to share our lives with one another during our stay at St. John’s while our son grew stronger. Michelle is a woman of faith and an ally to the LGBTQ+ community and was sent to us for a specific reason, to smile and care for our son through his first weeks of life. Our lives have been forever changed by the birth of our son, and before we left the special nursery we asked Michelle to be a godmother to him so she can continue to guide him on his journey to manhood.
