“Michelle is an amazing nurse,” a colleague said. “This was shown recently in how she went above and beyond for a patient’s family.”

During a shift change, Michelle was giving a detailed report to a colleague on a patient who was in an active dying phase to a nurse who hadn't worked with the patient's family before. As they were talking, the patient’s family member approached and informed them that the patient had passed away.

Without hesitation, Michelle stayed after her shift to provide support to the grieving family. She insisted that her colleague check on other patients while she took care of the paperwork and ensured the family had everything they needed.

Her colleague shared, "Michelle demonstrated putting the patient (and family) above all else by ensuring continuity of care throughout that transition. I’m so thankful for her."
