Michelle is our Service Lead in the Children's Center for Surgery (CCS). Every day in the CCS, Michelle checks on all our staff members - from nurse, techs, and support staff, to management and our surgeons - to ensure that our department runs smoothly.
Michelle takes care of our doctor's preference cards, which are lists of items and equipment that each surgeon uses for a particular case, how the surgeon likes the room set up for different procedures, and other preferences the surgeon may have. She updates these regularly to ensure that every surgery goes as smoothly as possible. Michelle is also helpful in troubleshooting our equipment when our TSA's are unavailable, and she's also very knowledgeable about our supplies and instrumentation.
Most importantly, Michelle is an exemplary nurse. She is kind and compassionate with our patients, very organized, and most importantly, ensures patient safety. Furthermore, she is respectful to all of our staff, she's a wonderful mentor and a great leader, and she is always willing to help. Michelle precepted me when I was an intern, and she always guided me in such a way to help me gain confidence and understanding in the OR.
Michelle does so much for our department. I truly believe that if we didn't have her, CCS would not be running as smoothly as it is today. She truly deserves The DAISY Award!
