Mila Walker was extremely influential throughout the entirety of my Nursing School journey. She was always available for support in my academic and in my mental and physical health as I continued through Nursing School. I could feel her passion and commitment to the Nursing profession and to all of her students that she had. She was very motivating in pushing me to try new skills and work out of my comfort zone in order to aid in my growth as a Nursing Student. She always reminded me of the true reasons why I was wanting to become a nurse, consistently emphasizing the beautiful connections that nurses make with patients and their families and how important they are. Mila is a great role model for the nursing profession by utilizing compassion in everything that she did for me and for the other students of my cohort. She always tried her best to establish a wonderful relationship with her students to ensure she was doing everything in her power to lead them to success. Mila Walker was always dedicated to her position of faculty and would always ensure she was available 24/7 for her students for anything that they may have needed. She made it apparent that she cared for us more than just students but as future nurses. She would always arrive to clinical and class with a positive attitude and you could feel the enthusiasm for her job radiate off of her. Because of Mila, I continued to push through Nursing School, and to this day whenever I am struggling, I hear her voice reminding me of the reasons why I was wanting to become a nurse and continue to push on. Mila has made a lasting impact on my life, me as a person, and in my resilience as a student and soon-to-be Registered Nurse. Every day when I am struggling, I think of one faculty, Mila Walker, and all of her wisdom and compassion that she gave me to get through whatever I was struggling with. She was more than just a faculty, and truly exemplified the essence of the nursing profession and what it really means to be a nurse. This is why Mila Walker deserves the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Faculty.
