Mimi and I developed a stellar rapport during my relatively brief stay. We spoke approximately 1.5 hours each day during my hospitalization.
My recent stay was the 35th time I have been hospitalized for chronic, often life-threatening, clinical depression. Mimi is definitely the most sensitive listener whom I have encountered throughout these frequent hospitalizations. She was an active listener whenever I needed to discuss my thoughts and reflections concerning my hospitalization(s) in a psychiatric unit of a health care facility.
I sincerely believe that our numerous conversations were the most therapeutic aspect of my entire hospitalization. I felt entirely at ease discussing many of my most intimate thoughts and reflections regarding my hospitalization as well as my extensive psychiatric history. She frequently offered suggestions that were beneficial in helping me identify potential coping skills/mechanisms that might offer me considerable solace and tranquility in addressing my past and current issues. What I remember most about our conversations is that they frequently concluded with a gentle smile on her face, as well as my own.
Mimi is definitely a credit to the nursing profession and an excellent paradigm of the professional/personal attributes required for this profession.
