Mitchaleen has made my stay at the VAMC like I was never in the hospital. The first thing she did was smile at me while greeting me. Even though I was in extreme pain, somehow that greeting alone made me feel like I was in good hands. Later in the evening, I wondered why I had not received my meds, so I asked her about it, and she explained to me that the meds had to be made in the pharmacy and chilled before I could receive them.
My girlfriend who just finished breast cancer treatment said to me, 'Boy, you really got a good nurse!' Mitchaleen not only meets the criteria of a good nurse but also was very impressive to me on training new nurses. Her manner of training made me feel proud myself. I even told her trainee "You are being trained by a very good nurse!"
When it was time for Mitchaleen to go home, she checked on me and everything I needed was requested. Today, I believe I am going home, so I woke up at 5:30 am to finish this DAISY award nomination because Mitchaleen deserves it and also deserved to know first-hand how much I appreciate her!
