After a plea for help from a fellow nurse manager, Allison Shrader jumped into action and created a Mock Code team. The team was created to help ensure that floor nurses are comfortable with starting and running a code prior to the code team arriving. This interdisciplinary team consisting of critical care nurses, respiratory therapists, and nursing educator, created a learning environment that is low stress, full of positive encouragement and aims to boost confidence to help ensure the best care is given in an emergent situation. During times of staffing shortages, orienting nurses to new units, and cultivating new graduate nurses, these nurses have answered a call to help enhance their coworker’s skills and improve clinical outcomes of their patients.
