Over the last 15 years, my husband has been a patient at Sanford numerous times. Four times for surgery and infections, two visits to ER, and countless times for outpatient tests. During all those visits, we never had a nurse so caring and compassionate as Molly. You need to know that this young woman was probably intimated by my Marine Corps husband and his attitude at first, but she ended up “playing” him and he melted into her kindness and her genuine love of her job.
When we first got to the floor there was some confusion over his 17 medications and when he was to receive them. Molly worked diligently to get the missing ones ordered and given at the appropriate times. Molly always informed me (the caregiver/advocate) at the appropriate times of what she was giving him and if she couldn’t give the medication, the reason why.
Molly was a breath of fresh air to us during a very stressful time. Molly offered her ear for all my questions and concerns and always gave us a direct answer. She worked relentlessly to provide the best care we have ever received at Sanford. Both my husband and I were impressed with her knowledge and professionalism in a situation that veered in many directions, and she understood the dynamics of many personalities and opinions. We cannot express in words how grateful and blessed we felt to have had Molly as our Nurse Extraordinaire!!! Molly always entered our room with a SMILE on her face and exited with “Is there anything I can do for you?”
Besides being such a wonderful nurse, we had front row seats to her teaching/guiding an Augustana student. What an excellent example of a nurse she was!
Sanford is lucky to have Molly representing them as such a super employee in a positive and professional manner.
