During the past week, Monica has saved 2 of our patients' lives due to her immediate identification, escalation, and management of their critical situations.
One was experiencing flash Pulmonary Edema and she quickly sought help and the patient's situation improved. The patient was so scared, but thankful that Monica was there and acted quickly to his needs and stayed by his side until she could transfer the patient to PCU.
The 2nd patient had just returned from a procedure and had stents placed. Monica took over this patient while a coworker was at lunch, and the patient seemed fine, and then the patient started to complain about chest pain. Monica immediately noticed a change in the EKG and called the cardiologist, and it turns out the patient had a dissection and because of Monica the patient received the necessary intervention preventing serious complications.
We are so grateful to have Monica on our team not only for her compassionate care but also because she is the first to help the team in critical staffing situations. Monica embodies what it means to be a nurse at AdventHealth Ocala by living our Service Standards every day!
