In the times of COVID-19, we have a greater challenge and a greater need to provide spiritual care. Unfortunately, right now it can be impossible to provide physical in-person connections with chaplains and family. The personal human contact from the few people that can enter the room becomes much more important. Morgan was a good example.
I do not know the many little ways she conveys to her patients that they are precious, and beloved or the spontaneous conversations that lighten their day with a human voice. Just one big example allows me to imagine the little ones.
Morgan had a patient that despite excellent care took a downward turn. It became clear that the patient would not survive, and no family would be there. She decided to provide personal and spiritual care of staying at the bedside so her patient would not die alone.
