Our night nurse was Morgan Keane, it was as if God chose her just for us, and for our situation.
My brother suffered an anoxic brain injury after a choking accident. We were transferred to OSF St Francis Medical Center and received the news that my brother would not recover. We then decided to remove the life support and keep him comfortable on the Neuro Med Surg floor. Our night nurse was Morgan Keane, it was as if God chose her just for us, and for our situation. I shared with her that I was a nurse as well, and this was my little brother. She and I worked together to ensure he was comfortable. She provided us with the best of end of life care that I had ever witnessed in my years of Home Health and hospice care. She was very patient and kind to my sister in law, and my parents as well. We found out during that long night that she had suffered the loss of her spouse as well, although we did not know the details. She cared for my brother as if he were her family, she showed compassion and understanding for an overbearing sister who was a nurse, respected my concerns, and handled our family's questions very well. We as a family encountered many nurses, techs, students, Phlebotomists, Doctors, etc, but Morgan will forever have a special place in my family's heart, and we are forever grateful for the care and love she provided my brother in his last hours of life. Thank you Morgan for all you do, may God continue to bless you in your nursing career as you are one of the best!
