Mykenzie is a joy to have in my clinical rotations. She is always on time and well-prepared to start her shift. I most appreciate her organizational skills, her ability to prioritize things, her sharp, inquisitive questions on trying to figure out disease processes, and her plan of care for the patient - always challenging herself to come up with well-thought-out plans. She wants to learn and stay busy - often taking the initiative to ask staff what she can do to help them. She is wonderful with her patients- always explaining things in detail so they can understand their plan of care better and recognizing opportunities to educate them. Mykenzie has excellent assessment skills and has found skin breakdown that had not been noticed by her nurse and caught a close medication error - thereby preventing it from happening thanks to her critical thinking skills and being bold enough to question something she noticed that didn’t seem right. These qualities are extremely important to be a successful nurse, and there isn’t a doubt in my mind she will not succeed. I hope she will continue to further her education because she can go far.
