Najwa shows compassion and care with every one of her patients, but one patient in particular stood out to me. This patient was a young lady who had gotten into a car accident and had a brain injury. Najwa was her nurse for a couple of days in a row, and then our assignments were switched up, and I took over for this patient. She had a trach placed at the bedside the morning of my shift, and I was very busy with my other patient, but Najwa took time out of her assignment to give some extra love to our lady. She knew the patient's husband was worried about the trach procedure, so she went to her locker to get some smell goods and hygiene products to get her looking nice for when her husband arrived. Najwa did the patient's hair, cleaned her all up from the procedure, sprayed some perfume, and even painted her nails. When the husband walked in, he forgot all about his worries about the procedure and was so happy she looked a little more like herself again. He was so thankful for Najwa's work and the way she took care of his wife. This is the kind of compassionate nurse everyone should aspire to be.
