On August 11, Nancy Amezcua, RN was honored by Henry Ford Medical Group Ambulatory Nursing Leadership as the DAISY Award recipient for the second quarter of 2023. A nurse for more than seven years, Nancy joined the Henry Ford Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant team at Henry Ford Hospital in 2019. This was the year her nominator, who has now been under Nancy’s care for three years, received her heart transplant. The patient stated that she was touched by the high-quality care and reassurance received from her nurse. Immediately responsive to the patient’s questions about care and next steps, Nancy also had the special touch in keeping her calm during the trials she faced. For Nancy, her favorite part of being a heart transplant coordinator is the long-term relationships built with patients and helping them get to transplant and seeing them get a second chance at life. Congratulations, Nancy, for making a difference in the lives of Henry Ford Health patients.
