Nancy encouraged me to ask for a fetal growth scan and push to get one.
I came in for a scheduled induction. I have gestational diabetes so was at risk for some issues, including a big baby. However, my latest scans did not indicate he was too big. Nancy and I were chatting and she was feeling my belly and thought I may have an overly large baby. She encouraged me to ask for a fetal growth scan and push to get one. Her intuition told her that he was around 10lbs 8oz.
The residents who came in thought he was closer to 9 lbs. Well, the ultrasound came back at 10lbs, so we opted for a c-section just in case. Nancy then put in 2 IV ports before she left for the day. Well, thank God for Nancy because we had a 10lb 7oz baby (she was spot on!) and her foresight to put in 2 IVs was apparently very critical according to the doctors/nurses in the OR as I lost quite a bit of blood. Thank you, Nancy, for giving us a safe delivery! And keeping us healthy!
