Nancy McGuckin?s interest has been and will continue to be in the area of policy and practice as it relates to nurses addressing the larger societal issues of poverty and globalization. She has about 20 years of hands-on experience in the political arena and in the area of nursing unionization and professional associations. Her vision is to: 1) develop nurse managed centers throughout the islands; 2) provide international learning opportunities to students - particularly to the poorest of the poor, and; 3) to assist nurses in attaining public policy positions at the highest levels to positively affect global poverty and health. In 2012, Nancy was honored with the DAISY Faculty Award in recognition of her commitment and inspirational influence on her students. In 2005, Nancy was awarded the Educator of the Year Award by the School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene at the University of Hawai`i at Manoa.
