On a morning in October, just prior to shift change, I observed a critical patient brought in by ambulance and taken into the Emergency Department. Nursing staff in the unit worked diligently to treat the patient and tend to their needs. I nominated Natali for a DAISY Award because after she clocked out for the end of her shift, I observed her go to the waiting room to sit with the family and explain the situation that the patient was in and what the process would be going forward. Most employees are in a rush to leave work at the end of their shift and I thought it was extremely compassionate for Natali to assure the family of the situation and to assure them of the treatment moving forward for their family member. Natali is an exceptional example of a nurse at UPMC Pinnacle Hanover.
