In my opinion, Nurse Natiasha is a DAISY Nurse for many reasons. It is difficult to express my deepest appreciation to Natiasha along with the many nurses, therapists, aides, and social workers who took incredible care of my mother. Natiasha demonstrated such kindness, patience, selflessness while caring for my mother during her stay in the hospital. I stayed with my mom daily and witnessed first-hand the dedication and knowledge she demonstrated. At one point she brought me to tears when she knelt on the floor, held my 88-year-old mother’s tiny, gnarled hands, looked into her eyes with so much compassion, and told her, ‘We just want you to be well.’ She went on to tell her not to worry so much about things that may not even happen. All of this was said to ease her anxiety and to let her know things will be OK. I watched her patiently and expertly teach the younger nurses how to get the needle into my elderly mother’s veins. At one point, she took the portable toilet and examined her waste for blood. She came back out of the bathroom with a smile on her face and did a happy dance because there was no blood. She told us, ‘Sometimes we celebrate poop!’ She knew this would ease my mother’s anxiety and we shared a good laugh. For these reasons and so many more in a world with so much sadness, Natiasha brought so much compassion and kindness to this experience. My mother, family, and I will be forever grateful for her kindness, compassion, and incredible patience. Natiasha along with all the other caregivers show their patients such love, grace, and compassion. Thank you!
