This was my first hospitalization other than having a baby. I was scared stiff - crying frequently, afraid I was going to die. I was in a state of powerlessness and had lost any control over my circumstances. Nicasia was the nurse assigned to me most of my stay. Nicasia took time to sit with me; talk to me, and gave me hope. She provided me with the education about the medications, the process, labs, etc. Though she had 3 other very sick patients she never made me feel like she was hurried. She comforted me when I was negative. She is kind, compassionate, caring. She was instrumental in my healing. She deserves this DAISY Award.
