She told me she lost her mom at a young age and immediately a bond was formed. In that moment she was more than my nurse.
This was my first time ever being admitted to a hospital. So many tests, so many nurses, so many questions. Fear stress and anxiety had taken over my body long before I reached the emergency room. In the last couple of months, I developed my own health issues, I started a new job, and I lost my mom to cancer.
I settled into my room and met my team. All afternoon I had been explaining my recent life changes to the staff but Nicole was the only one who truly understood what I was going through. She told me she lost her mom at a young age and immediately a bond was formed. In that moment she was more than my nurse. She shared her story, book recommendations, and what helped her in the grieving process. Her sweet disposition and bubbly personality are two very special qualities that make a good nurse a great nurse. That being said I would like to nominate Nicole for The DAISY Award for the outstanding impact she left on me during my stay at CCH.
