Niki had cared for a very ill patient and her family. This family was so appreciative of the care given to their loved one by Niki that they wanted to make sure everyone knew how much they felt she deserved this award. In the words of a family member:
"My Nannie was my second Mom. Niki showed she cared by talking with us about her condition. Even though we knew she was not coming home, Niki made her stay there exceptionally well and cared about her in ways nobody showed her before. I hope people can learn from her how to be loving, caring, and compassionate because the world really needs people like her. She has a heart like no other."
This family felt so strongly about honoring Niki with this award that they hand delivered the nominations completed by the other family members to the DAISY Coordinator.
Niki is one of the hardest working nurses we have at Hamilton. She is always going the extra mile for her patients as well as her peers. She has a passion for education of new nurses. She is a great mentor for novice nurses as well as expert nurses.
