I was admitted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital to have a D&C performed. I had learned two days earlier at doctor appointment my 16-week old baby no longer had a heartbeat. Obviously, both my husband and I were devastated by this news. Nikki was the first RN we came in contact with after check-in. She took the time to explain each step, gave me options with treatment, and stayed with us in the Triage Room through the Dilation procedure. She made sure I was okay and comfortable until we were admitted to a room. I underwent the Curettage portion of the procedure the next day. I cannot tell you how wonderful, compassionate, and caring Nikki was in every way. She was so kind and careful in reassuring me, my husband, and my parents as we went through every process and procedure. She is truly an angel and made a tragic situation bearable with her kindness. She made sure we made it to our room around 2:00 am the next morning and left us with hugs and reassurances that were so appreciated.
