January 2020 Honoree
olivia johnson, BSN, RN
My nurse's name was Olivia. She was friendly and efficient (as all of the staff have been since I got here). What took it over the top was her statement about why she was passionate about nursing, and her belief in advocating for her patients, regardless of their circumstance.
I am an RN and have been in management for 30 years. I know the difference between a true passionate nurse and one who is just here to earn her money. My daughter is a new grad RN.
Olivia learned this and took time out of her busy day to tell her what makes a good nurse: that the technical skills come with time, but what makes a real nurse is wanting to care for each person, in a way that is meaningful to them, no matter how angry, or uncaring they may seem. I can't say enough about not only her excellent patient care (for me) but her mentoring of a future nurse (my daughter).

Thank you, Olivia, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
