One morning, while I was preparing to register a post op patient I started having some concerns when patient was wheeled into the office. She was in a nursing home following surgery and was being treated poorly. When transportation brought the patient to the office I noticed that the patient was in a deep sleep where she couldn't be stimulated or awakened at that time. I also noticed bruises and scratches on the patient's hands. The patent's husband pulled me to the side and expressed to me, while crying, that he felt his wife was being mistreated and he was afraid that he would lose her due to the conditions she was under. He stated that he has spoken to multiple people and none of them would help him or even take the time out to listen to him. I told him that I would do my best to get them some help. I immediately went to Olivia and explained to her what was going on. Without hesitation, she took over this situation and got the proper parties involved. Olivia worked on this issue for well over two hours. Due to Olivia's fast thinking, amazing nursing skills, and extremely caring heart, she was able to help the patient and she is fully recovered. I am extremely grateful to have Olivia here in Neurosurgery and I truly appreciate her.
